The Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity Fact Sheet

The Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity, Inc. affiliate was established in August 1987 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. As of January 2007, over 80 houses have been completed and another 10 are currently in development or under construction.

Habitat for Humanity Mission Statement - Habitat for Humanity sells houses to partner families at no profit, through no-interest mortgages. Low-income families partner with Habitat, its volunteers and donors, investing hundreds of sweat-equity labor hours into their home’s construction. Habitat receives donated building materials and other in-kind contributions, which in turn leverage donor dollars and build more houses.

Habitat Homeowner Selection Process - The family selection committee looks at the following distinct areas of selection criteria when reviewing potential partners.
1. A family’s actual housing need based on the suitability of their current shelter.
2. Current income and ability to pay for a Habitat house.
3. Willingness to participate as a “partner” with Habitat.
For more information, please contact our office at (941) 639-3162 and ask for our Family Selection Criteria brochure, or click on the "Family Selection Criteria" link above.
